CIP: Helvetica & Massimo Vignelli

Helvetica is a typeface that was created by Massimo Vignelli, an Italian graphic designer and typographer. This graphic designer is very peculiar, in that he pays attention to every detail of his typography, this makes him stand out from all the others. He says the importance that the distance between the letters, as in music, he believes are not the notes but the space between them is doing the music. In typography, it is not the black ink that matters but the spacing that is left between the ink and which forms the letter.

I did in my sketchbook an exercise, I printed the word HELVETICA from the internet using Helvetica typeface and tried to observe every detail of that letter.

In homage to Massimo Vignelli I made a small sketch and portrait of him.
I really admire this graphic designer not only because he is very creative and because of his work in also by knowing some of his quotes like for example:

“If you do it right, it will last forever”
“The life of a designer is a life of struggle against the ugliness”
“If you can design one thing, then you can design everything”

These quotes make me believe that I am capable, myself and anyone who pays attention to detail and who is always aware of the evolution.
